Hostfully provides an integration with Mailchimp, the world’s leading email marketing platform. Property managers can leverage the full power of Mailchimp to manage marketing campaigns and target those campaigns to the guest database they have been building across channels over the course of their business existence. For Hostfully, this integration feeds our vision to bring more automation to the vacation rental space.
By synchronizing the applications you use to run your business, using Hostfully as the centralizing platform, property managers can now break down data silos between those applications, and have their workflows become more efficient, more maintainable and more extensible. And that extra time saved lets them focus on increasing revenue and time spent running their core business, which in this case, is their hospitality business.
This integration will essentially allow our users to automatically funnel the prospective guest email address into the Mailchimp list of your choice, so that email marketing campaigns can easily be triggered
So, as for most of Hostfully integrations, the Mailchimp integration is a pretty simple one to activate. Please follow the steps below to get started.
1. Find or Generate Your Mailchimp API Key
If you want to set up an integration with your MailChimp account, chances are high that you’ll need to generate an API key. Users with Manager permissions can generate and view their own API keys. Users with Admin permissions can also see API keys for other account users. Below, you’ll learn how to grab an existing API key or generate a new one.

A. Click your profile name to expand the Account Panel, and choose Account.
B. Click the Extras drop-down menu and choose API keys.
C. Copy an existing API key or click the Create A Key button.
D. Name your key descriptively, so you know what application uses that key.
2. Find Your Mailchimp Audience (List) ID
Now that we have an API key, the next step is to create and find an audience ID (also know as a list ID) to which all Hostfully guests should be added to, and the get ID of that list:
To find your audience ID, follow these steps.
- Navigate to the Audience tab.
- If you have more than one audience, click the Current audience drop-down and choose the one you want to work with.
- Click View Contacts.
- Click the Settings drop-down and choose Audience name and defaults.
- In the Audience ID section, you’ll see a string of letters and numbers. This is your audience ID.
3. Activate the Mailchimp integration in Hostfully
Now on Hostfully's side, simply navigate to the Integrations page, and toggle ON the Mailchimp integration:
4. Enter your Mailchimp API Key and Audience
ID (or List ID) – you’re set!
When the pop-up appears, simply enter the Mailchimp API Key and Audience ID (list ID) we collected on Mailchimp, and you’re set.
5. What is passed to Mailchimp?
We currently only pass the email to Mailchimp as that is most important piece of information for email marketing. The other information can be manually filled in.
6. What Now?
The integration is not currently backwards compatible. Therefore, only new email addresses after the integration is turned on will be sent to Mailchimp.
We recommend a work around for this. Please go to the reporting section of Hostfully and download the extended data report. This will allow you access to our raw data in Excel format which you can tailor and then upload into Mailchimp from their website. Most people will save the emails and first/last names of the guests and upload that into Mailchimp.
