The dashboard gives the user a filtered overview of the most relevant items at the time of login.

In some instances an organization has several people using the same account, so instead of seeing all organization-wide listings and due tasks, the dashboard will display only the most relevant tasks/items for the person that logged on.

Many users use the pipeline as their primary screen and get to the dashboard when they see a new inquiry coming in (in the form of a little red alert in the menu).
